The Good Sam's rating is incorrect and much too high. We stayed the days immediately following Memorial Day and during the week the bathrooms near our site were NEVER cleaned. In addition, the sites are not level and no work was done on them as people left and before others came in. The location is very convenient and the camp store is well stocked.

This is the best overall campground that we have stayed in. We wish we could have extended our stay. Everything is just right; it is well maintained, the RV sites are long and level, the bathroom/showers are spotless and there are 2 different bathroom/shower/laundry buildings making access easy. There are many permanent/long term residents; however, their sites are clean and well maintained. The area is also attractive, being close to a lake and driving distance to Madison. Since "10" is the highest rating they are a perfect 10.

Overall a very nice campground and the Good Sam's rating is correct. The RV sites are built as pull through but designed for 2 units to each back in with the hook ups designed for such. The pads are crushed rock and could probably use a little leveling touch up. Each site has a table on a concrete pad. The bathroom/showers are excellent, however, strangely do not have any hand drying equipment. The entire grounds are very clean and the setting is right on the Pigeon River. Note that the campground gets very dark at night as the owners do not have a street lights that are on all night. A trip to the bathroom could be an adventure. Overall, I would recommend this campground.

The Good Sam bathroom rating is completely wrong. The bathrooms and showers are absolutely below standards and the worst we have our seen on our extended multi-month trip. The laundry machines are of high quality but the room is not clean. The entire office/laundry/bathroom complex is completely out of date. The GS rating must have been done years ago. However, this is the only commercial campground in Medora so they do not invest in keeping it up to date. Note that there is no grocery store and only one gas station in Medora so plan accordingly.

Clean well maintained campground in a beautiful setting. The bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. Personnel were very friendly and helpful. The camp sites do not afford a lot of privacy, however, the open views of the surrounding mountains more than make up for this minor shortfall.

Large well maintained campsites with asphalt roadways and privacy provided by hedges and trees. Clean restrooms and showers. Convenient access to Calgary yet located in a quiet area adjacent to the Bow river. This is a wonderful camp ground.

Overall a comfortable place to stay with full hook ups at all sites. The restrooms and showers were very clean and warm. Their were no long termers bringing their eyesore to the location. The only downsides are the highway noise which is moderate (fortunately not a lot of traffic) and the extra charge for wifi. I recommend this location for overnighters. The Good Sam rating is accurate.

Heavily treed with space between most of the campsites. Water and electric with a central dumpsite. The roads are below average due to potholes. The pads are stone/gravel with a varying degree of level. The restrooms and showers are close to only a few of the sites and distant for many of the sites. Each campsite is next to the stream so very appropriate for an Alaskan RV experience. Campsite #9 is a large pull through with a nice setting on the river bank.
The appeal to the facility is the rustic nature, trees, relative privacy and stream. The campsite is well away from the town so you are on your own for entertainment.
The Good Sam rating is indicative, however, it misses the ambience of the setting.

The best thing about the park is that it is close to downtown Anchorage. That said there are many things to dislike. The location is not in a good area. Not only does the train track parallel the park, but the area is an industrial zone. I would not want to walk to or from the downtown area in the dark; many people were taking taxis. The park itself suffers from overcrowding. The spaces are so small that we could not put out our awning due to the next RV being so close. Although there was a picnic table it was virtually unusable due to space constraint. The next pedestal was 2 feet from our front door making it inconvenient to enter and exit the trailer. Finally, the park is at the bottom of a cliff on the city side making TV difficult to receive and there is no cable. There is nothing for kids to do and no space devoted to play.
The owners are diligent though. They were spreading stones on the main drive to preclude potholes from developing, mowing what little grass there is and keeping the central office/laundry/bathrooms clean.
Overall, the Goods Sam rating is fair.

Friendly, clean and well maintained. RV space is typical and most of the sites are drive through. Much of the campground is gravel/rock and open. so although not as appealing as those with trees, the cleanliness of the entire space more than makes up for it. Although not easily within walking distance to town, access via the highway is very good. The bathrooms are very clean and the laundry is good size and very clean. No camp store for those who may rely on such for small items.
We would recommend this location for those who are not looking for pool, playground etc. but rather a very comfortable experience.

The location is very difficult to find due to the address being a highway when in fact they are on a service road. Even knowing that, it is confusing to reach even when in sight. Once there the gravel roads are extremely potholed - they do not require speed bumps. In the 1970's when this was probably built it was a nice place. However, it appears that the owners have not invested any money since. For example, the laundry door is left open with no screen door and the bugs are worse inside than outside.
The sites are back in and the streets are small. Tow vehicles and even satellite dishes completely encroach on the driving space with no control from management.
I would not recommend this, however, alternatives may not be as good. The location for access to the Edmonton mall is the only good thing about Glowing Embers.

Gravel roads throughout the park were in relatively poor condition with pot holes. The facility map shows only 3 pull throughs with all other sites being back in. The pads are made of uneven loose stone construction. The bathrooms are old and run down as is the facility in general. There are only 1 set of bathrooms and those are at the far end of the campground in the general office. Seems as though there are a lot of long term residents.
The rating that Good Sam gives this facility is accurate.

Very disappointing! We arrived on Saturday and the office was closed. An envelope was left for campers stating the rate and that Good Sam discounts would not be offered unless verified by office personnel - of course the office was closed. Without further information we had no toilet entry code or internet access information. The camping sites themselves are of very poor quality. For example, the water pipe at our site was bent over nearly touching the ground. Seemed to us that the Good Sam rating personnel either gave the scores based on not visiting or had some conflict on interest situation. Certainly not worth the "9" ratings shown in the guide.
