Friendly staff. Really clean restrooms with great water pressure and hot water in shower. Nice laundry room facility with sink for washing clothes and tables to sit at or fold laundry. Small, well equipped store, and free movie DVDs available to sign out and bring back on the honor system. Only a few miles from either Cortez with lots of stores to shop at, and Mancos, that had its balloon festival with entertainment and market in a very pretty town core. In the RV park, the pool was nice but a bit chilly, maybe because it was near the end of September? We were lucky enough to get level in our spot with almost no trouble. We don't carry blocks or have leveling jacks so always a plus when we get level easily. Our neighbors were not as fortunate and spent at least an hour trying to get their trailer level. WiFi was excellent if you were close to the office but not great at all in our campsite. The area was green and the landscape surrounding us was beautiful. The park got full with a Winnebago group but it was quiet and everyone was very friendly. A nice place to stay if visiting Mesa Verde a truly awesome national park.

We had reserved this RV park months in advance and it was a good thing as the sign said "no vacancy" when we arrived late in the afternoon. The RV park was not as we expected from it's description on the Good Sam website. There seemed to be a lot of permanent RVs and double-wide homes, and the Park was between railroad tracks and a highway. The area nearby seemed run-down and it probably didn't help that there were police cars gathered around some people when we crossed the bridge from Ontario to Fruitland. We were fine with our overnight stay but glad to be on our way in the morning. The restrooms were a shower/toilet room combo and looked clean but they were a several minute walk from our RV and we didn't use them. The owners/managers were pleasant and there were other overnighters in our area of the RV park, but we did not like the "feel" of the place and we would not stay here again.

We phoned and got a spot at the last minute. When we arrived we did self-check in and found our spot easily. Grounds were clean, so were restrooms. Our spot was huge with grassy area and a fire pit. We were here in mid September and the summer season was over. It looked like the fire pit could be a community gathering space, but for our stay it was quiet. We had a cement pad and our Class A was easily parked level - huge plus for us, we do not have leveling jacks. Campground is a short walk from the main street and a beach access. Overall this was a good place to spend the weekend and reasonably priced at off-season rates. One note, there were many permanent RVs and we were parked on the edge of that area. People were pleasant and we felt comfortable staying in the campground.

It is not often that I would rate any facility as high as the 5 stars I have given Whiskey Flats in Hawthorne, NV. We spent one night there in late October as we travelled northward towards home. The night was chilly and the slight breeze off the mountain nearby were clear indicators that winter was not far off. The only person we dealt with was the manager who greeted us in the office. He was both helpful and friendly the two or three times we encountered him. Our pull-thru site was clean and level. The (womens) restroom was warm and spotlessly clean. The shower rooms were spacious with a particularly large handicapped room that included a toilet. Shower pressure and heat (both very important to me) were great. I peeked at the laundry room and it was large with a good selection of newish washers and dryers. The Office held reception and a small, well stocked store, a cosy fireplace area with seating, and a good selection of books to swap. There is propane on site, handy as we needed it. Within walking distance on a path well-separated from the highway is a Safeway Grocery and a pizza restaurant. We drove through Hawthorne and were not thrilled with the look and feel of the downtown area, but this RV park is far enough away for this not to be an issue. For being at the side of the highway it was surprisingly quiet, and an easy drive in and out. A great overnight spot and reasonably priced.
