Stayed at this campground recently. The people who manage it were very nice. The campground has a nice view of Lake Champlain as it sits right on the lake. It is also has 50 amp service, which is hard to come by in the area.

The big down side is no full hookups. The service to drain your tanks only comes once a week. There is a dump station on site but this requires you to break down your rig and pull over to the dump station and then set back up again.

If you use the showers in the bath house it will cost you a quarter as there is a meter. We encountered some bad smells one evening while camping which we think came from the nearby sewage treatment plant. Also train tracks run right alongside the campground which can be noisy at times.

The entrance to the campground is tricky as its right below a blind hill. Pulling out we held our breath hoping nobody would come over the hill too fast.

The town of Port Henry has seen better days...not much there to recommend it.

Although there are many permanent sites at the campground, overall I would not stay here unless overnighting.

We were a bit concerned about staying at Paradise Lake due to the reviews and word of mouth. However it seems the campground was purchased in 2016. The new owners have done a lot to upgrade the place. Sites were roomy and level with 30 and 50 amp service. I had no problem getting around with my 43 foot MH. The bath houses had all been redone and were good. Nice pool and the kids loved the lake. It was very quiet and peaceful and the staff were very nice. I would stay there again.

A great place to take kids. This is a destination campground. There is something scheduled every hour for the kids. The place is also gated and fenced so you can let your children roam and they will be safe. In addition they have miniature golf, paddle boats, a great pool, slide and water park, hay rides, outdoor movie theater and other things. The facilities are top notch. The location is close to Skyline Drive and Luray Caverns. There is also a cool Zip Line facility right next door (walking distance).
The price is not cheap but it is a good value if you consider what it includes. Its starts with very nice, well maintained campsites, includes the water attraction and the activities for the kids. If you were to pay for all of these things separately you would end up spending the same if not more. Highly recommend!

We found this campground to be very nice. Nice level spots. We had no trouble getting in and out with our 43 foot MH and Toad. Facilities appear to be upgraded. Walking distance to downtown Watkins Glen which has nice restaurants. Also the marina is right next to the campground where we rented a pontoon boat. Across the street is a park that has a beach on Seneca Lake. Super Walmart is nearby within walking distance. Location was good for visiting wineries. We stayed during the July 4 weekend and were treated to a great fireworks display at the park across the street. Would stay there again.

Overnighted here from I95 on New Year's Day. Staff was very friendly. Our site was large enough for our 43' MH and TOAD without unhooking. Water and electric were fine. This CG is very close to I95 which makes for easy access but you will hear road noise even with your windows closed. We could see cars going by on the highway from our site - its that close. Overall a good stop over. An added plus is the Marathon station across from the CG which had low prices on fuel. It also has truck pumps for big RVs like our diesel pusher.

This park had lots of amenities with a large water slide, pool bar, etc. We had an RV Premium site. It was a tight fit for a Class A Diesel Pusher. The roads are narrow and difficult to maneuver in. Overall the park seemed very crowded.

Stayed here again. The nicest RV park we have ever stayed in. They claim to rank in the top 30 of RV parks in the nation and I can see why. The sites are roomy and very nice. A great place in Naples, FL.

An Ok place as a stopover from I95. The campsites seemed a little tired and could use some work.

Great place! Family owned with a unique character.
They have about 125 camp sites - large enough to offer good amenities but not too large. Did their Halloween weekend. Well organized and fun.
Great lakeside Deluxe Motorhome sites. Highly recommend!

We have been to nicer Yogi's. Has a public road that runs through the middle of the campground which is a big minus. The only reason to stay here is to see Natural Bridge.

An interesting place. This is a very small campground that is right up against the railroad tracks. The trains come through a couple of times a day. It was a tight fit for my 43' Class A Motorhome. The location is very convenient to Williamsburg. The staff is nice and friendly. Its a good place to stay if you plan to be out all day at the Williamsburg attractions otherwise I would look elsewhere.

Response from Anvil Campground
We offer large sites that host the biggest RVs on the market daily. We are much for than a place to just park and visit the sites. We have done extensive work and have added much for adults and children to enjoy all day everyday during their trip. We wish you happy travels.

We are one of the highest rated parks in the entire United States & Canada and we are the second highest rated Good Sam Park in all of Virginia! We are a first-class campground and we pride ourselves in being the best. We have the best customer service, newly renovated restrooms, first-class hookups, WIFI, cable, the best location, and the only shuttle services for a Williamsburg campground. Anvil Campground has been here since 1954. For 63 years and three generations, we have provided great family memories for tens of thousands of families. Our customer service will never be beat, because there is nothing that we will not do to make our guests happy.
