This RV park is located just off I-5 near Patterson, CA, although it is far enough from the highway that you we weren’t bothered by noise. It is adjacent to the off-ramp plaza with gas stations and fast food restaurants. It is a relatively young park with asphalt driveways and gravel site pads. We had a pull through site that was plenty long for our motorhome and car, although it was somewhat narrow. There were full hookups with 50 amp electric and cable, no patio, picnic table or fire ring. Restrooms and laundry were clean and in good condition. There is WiFi included but we found it to be useless. We paid $23 per night with Passport America.

This is one of the campgrounds available in the Yosemite Valley area and this is the best way to experience this part of the park. It is located at the foot of Glacier Point and as the name implies there are lots of pine trees in the campground. None of the Yosemite Valley campgrounds have hookups so it’s dry camping although potable water and a dump station are available. The site pad is asphalt and includes a fire pit and picnic table. Be aware that you will need to make your reservation 5 months in advance at the very moment when they open reservations once per month. There are flush restrooms on-site and showers are available nearby in Half Dome Village. The bathrooms are adequate but could use a little more attention. We were able to get a weak Verizon 4G signal here. We paid $26 per night.

We parked here in order to visit Sequoia National Park. It is located about 17 miles from the park entrance. There are campgrounds closer to the park entrance but I have no experience with them. This campground has gravel driveways and site pads. There is a grass strip and small fence between sites. We had a pull through site with full hookup, 50 amp electric. The park is kept clean and seems well maintained. Also, the bathrooms are very clean. They have WiFi but it is only available around the office. I did try to use it but it seemed hopelessly slow. They have a clubhouse with TV, pool table, games, etc. We paid $49.50 per night with Good Sam discount.

First, there’s the location which is right in downtown Long Beach and is super convenient for everything Long Beach has to offer on the waterfront including being right on a bike path. Not the fault of the park but for some reason we didn’t seem to get the ocean breezes here. The sites are somewhat tight with all being back-in with full hookups. The site surface is dirt but it’s not dusty. Oddly, most of the sites seem to be noticeably unlevel. Ours had a meaningful drop front to back but the levelers compensated. The park is well maintained and kept clean, including the bathrooms. There is a pool, BBQ area and laundry. The WiFi was OK with periodic failures. I have a pet peeve that is not unique to this park. If you stay exact increments of 7 days you pay a somewhat discounted weekly rate. However, if you stay 1 week plus 3 days, you will pay the weekly rate plus 3 days at the daily rate. It seems to me that the weekly rate should be prorated for the 3 additional days. After all, I assume the weekly rate recognizes that the park doesn’t have to go through a site turnover for at least a week so can’t the same be said for a 10 day stay? At any rate, this is a high quality park with a great location. We paid a blended average (weekly plus daily) of $50.55.

This large campground is located on Soledad Canyon Road between Palmdale and Santa Clarita. There are mostly back in sites with some pull through sites as well as tent areas. Typical of a KOA there are lots of facilities to keep the kids happy with playgrounds and a pool. Otherwise the campground is just a lot of dirt and dust. The driveways are pot holed and rough. A railroad track runs through the back of the property with frequent horn blowing Metro Link trains. There are lots of mature trees on the property that offer at least the possibility of getting some shade. We only spent one night here in a back in site on dirt with 50 amp electric, water and sewer. There is free WiFi which we were able to use in the evening when we arrived but disappeared the next morning. The bathrooms were OK, reasonably clean. On the plus side, the manager stopped by our site in the morning and asked if everything was OK with our site. This rarely happens in RV parks. We paid $50 per night.

This is a small RV park in the town of Lee Vining, CA, near Mono Lake. We had a back in site with a gravel surface, some shade, 30 amp electric, water, sewer and cable. If you want WiFi there is a charge, $4 per day, I think. We didn’t use it. We couldn’t get satellite signal due to trees so we did use their cable which is somewhat weak in the quality of signal and number of channels. Bathrooms were good condition and reasonably clean. They don’t accept credit cards. We paid $38.08 per night.

This is a large RV park conveniently located near the intersection of Main St. and Old Mammoth Road. This is one of the only commercial parks in Mammoth so they can command somewhat premium pricing particularly in the summer. There are lots of public campgrounds but they generally don’t accept reservations and don’t have hook ups. The mature pine trees offer the opportunity for shade at least for part of the day. The section we were in was asphalt organized like a large parking lot with RV’s lined up side by side. We had water, cable, 30amp electric and fairly good WiFi. The bathrooms are reasonably clean and well maintained. Including tax we paid $51.30 per night.

Conveniently located just off SR14 a few miles south of Palmdale, this park has mostly full hookup pull-thru sites with a concrete site pad and a gravel or dirt patio, although the sites are a bit narrow since they are built up a steep hill and have an upgrade between the sites. No picnic table. There is what appears to be an older section that has more mature trees that provide some shade for these sites but we were in the section that has much smaller trees, no shade. There is a relatively large pool and excellent WiFi, although in order to connect you must ignore a security warning about their expired certificate. This should be corrected. The only real complaint I would mention is that the bathrooms were not being cleaned daily when we were there. The floor was quite dirty on many occasions and the door could use a new coat of paint (or replacement). We paid $37.85 per night on a weekly rate.

This is a large RV park in the northwest side of Santa Clarita with lots of mature trees dispersed throughout. Most sites are pull through will full hookups. There are a large number of what appear to be long term residents but most keep their space clean and uncluttered. There are restrooms and showers throughout. Driveways are a mix of asphalt and gravel, site pads are gravel/dirt with a small concrete or asphalt patio with a picnic table. Sites are narrow so your neighbor will be very close. We were not able to get satellite reception due to interference from tree limbs but we were only here for 3 days so no big deal. We paid $50 per night with Good Sam discount.

This is a small RV park in the heart of Morro Bay. The location is ideal, 2 blocks to the center of town and 2 blocks in the other direction to the waterfront area. If you have children and are looking for on-site recreational facilities this may not be the place for you. Otherwise, we found it to be a very high quality RV park. It is extremely clean and well maintained, including the laundry, bathrooms and showers. There is cable TV service and excellent WiFi. Our site had gravel underneath the RV with a brick patio and driveways are brick. The owners are terrific. We will return.

Lake Casitas is located in the hills between Ventura and Ojai, CA. This is a large park with a variety of camping areas, picnic areas and a water park. They have several campgrounds designated with letters A through O. Some are primitive camping and others have full hookups. Somehow when I was booking I was not able to discern the details of each camping area. Knowing what I know now I would have chosen Campground F which has nice concrete pads and several sites with full hookups. We booked in Campground E which has water and electric only with uneven, dusty site pads. An added bonus was that the Eucalyptus trees were dropping sap which made a nice mess of my newly cleaned RV roof.

The campgrounds have adequate toilets, trash and recycling facilities. There are pay showers available in two areas. The water park is not included in the price for camping. There is no WiFi but we got a strong Verizon signal. We paid $40.80 per night.

If you’re visiting the Los Angeles area, there are limited choices for parking your RV. This one is in Anaheim right on the 91 freeway about 8 miles west of Corona, CA. It is adjacent to a wilderness area along the Santa Ana River and a paved bike path that follows the river. However, the freeway is busy 24/7 so be aware that you will have road noise. The RV park is large with lots of trees and open space. Driveways are asphalt and site pads are either gravel or asphalt. I had an asphalt back in site with full hookups (50 amp electric). It was a large site with a picnic table, fire ring and plenty of space to park my car. Bathrooms are OK, didn’t use showers. There is no internet service. I paid $42.85 per night based on a weekly rate with senior discount.

Quartzsite is a unique place which, for its size has lots of options for parking your RV. This is the only RV park I have experience with here but it was very positive. Terrific service from the owner/manager. He is very focused on ensuring that you have a good experience. This is desert so driveways and site pads are gravel. Each site has full hook ups with a concrete patio. The free WiFi worked well for us. The bathrooms as well as the entire park were very clean. Good experience. We paid $33 per night.

This is a big park with nice asphalt driveways and gravel site pads. Each site has full hookup (no cable) with a concrete patio. I chose a pull through site since I would only be there for 3 nights, but be aware that these sites are quite narrow. The back in sites give much more room for each site. It has all of the usual amenities for an AZ resort, pool, pickleball, bocce ball, library, etc. The bathrooms were in good condition and kept clean. The free WiFi was OK. I paid $37.57 per night with Good Sam discount.

This park is located conveniently adjacent to I-10 in Willcox, AZ. The driveways and site pads are gravel will full hook ups (50 amp electric), cable, picnic table and WiFi. Everything worked well except that WiFi would disappear frequently. The bathrooms and the entire park are super clean. Good service, good location and a reasonable price. We paid $30 per night with Good Sam Discount.

The location of this RV park is convenient to I-10 near El Paso but it is in an industrial area, although shopping is available 2 or 3 miles away. The park itself has asphalt driveways with dirt everywhere else. In fact, the dirt also covers quite a bit of the driveways. There are full hookups on long pull thru sites and free WiFi which worked well for us. The bathrooms are reasonably clean. There is a laundry but we didn’t use it. Pretty basic but serviceable. We paid $37.75 per night with Good Sam discount.

This is our second stay here. Not much has changed since our first visit in February 2016. Gravel driveways and site pads, full hookups, decent bathrooms, WiFi service and cable connection. Due to the location it gets lots of one night stopovers from those traveling on I-10. We used the laundry facility this time which has lots of machines, $1.25 for wash, $2.00 for dry. We paid $33 per night with Good Sam discount.

This is our second stay here. We have also stayed at another of the Quality RV Resorts properties in Houston. These are well run parks with first class facilities. Super clean, concrete driveways and site pads, good WiFi, super clean restrooms and showers, nice clubhouse with pool table, exercise machines, computer lab and fresh popcorn all day. We paid $45 per night with Good Sam discount.

This is one of a group of RV parks owned and managed by Quality RV Resorts. Most of them are in the Houston area. They have a formula that you can see replicated at each property. The result is a very nice, well managed RV park. The facilities are high quality and kept clean and in good condition. Central to the property is a large lake. Many of the sites are located on the lake. The driveways and site pads are concrete. The site pads are wide enough to include a picnic table and room to park a vehicle. Each site has full hookups with 50 amp electric and cable. The free WiFi was consistent and reliable. Their “clubhouse” has a TV area, a computer lab with printers, pool table, fresh popcorn, coffee, etc. The laundry facility is top quality and clean as are the restrooms. They also have a heated pool with jacuzzi. There are also really nice gas grills for guest use located around the lake. We paid $55 per night with Good Sam discount.

This is a nice RV park a bit northeast of Lafayette, LA. They have several fishing ponds and the RV sites are located around one of the larger ones. The sites are all back in with large and level concrete pads. On the downside, the asphalt drive that encircles the RV sites is broken and buckled in several places. Our site had a picnic table but it seems that not all sites do. We had full hookups with 50amp electric. There is a small pool but we didn’t use it due to the weather. The bathroom and shower facilities are a bit rustic. The free WiFi worked well for us. AT&T 4G signal strength here was pretty good at -96dBm. We paid $25 per night with Good Sam and Passport America discounts.
