Our first visit. New owners have apparently made many improvements. The new bathroom building is beautiful and the 'family style' bathrooms are very nice. The clubhouse and other bathrooms are under renovation as well . The staff was most helpful and accommodating. The roads need work but I totally understand the need for prioritizing improvements needed. The campground is close to I95 but we heard little highway noise. We would return.

We were very impressed with the campground. It is located relatively close to the Interstate but we never heard any highway noise. The layout of the campground is very unique and makes good use of the terrain. Our site was on the hill overlooking most of the campground and the lake. We had a very spacious, level site that was full hookup. There is a section of the park that is on the flat and intended as an overflow area or late arrival area as campers arriving after dark could have difficulty traversing the campground roads. The ducks and occasional heron make one realize he/she is truly out in the country. After checking in, we saw very little of the staff as we had no reason to seek them out. The restrooms were immaculate and obviously cleaned frequently. when we checked in, we noticed that the campstore appeared well-stocked. We would and will visit again.

This is a nice family campground. The layout can be confusing due to the number of roads and the fact that there are 3-4 camping areas. There are many long-term campers and many campsites under construction. The upper pull-thru sites are very nice and reasonably level. The 'woods' sites are a bit tricky to access. The restroom near the office could use some updating. The showers are separate free-standing units separated by curtains only. The new restroom and shower area nearest the road is very nice but the showers themselves are not very spacious. The office/store is well-stocked. There are a lot of activities available for every age group. The roads could use some attention due to washed-out areas. There is plenty of shade for most campsites. It is relatively close to all the area attractions. It is close to the Pennsylvania Pike but there is little highway noise. Would return if we were in the area again.

We have been camping at this campground since 2009, one or two times once or twice every other year. We have noticed lately that the campground has lost its lustre. It's still very close to Shenandoah National Park which makes it very appealing. It is near Charlottesville for shopping. We camped there in a fifth wheel and had a full hookup, pull through site with cable. Due to the park's location, channel choices were limited. The restrooms were clean but dated. The roads in the park, once you get past the pull through sites are in need of repair. The pavement is broken or missing and there are naturally-occurring speed bumps. There are many long-term campers. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. The camp store is well-stocked. We didn't use the pool or laundry. We would return if we are in the area again - there aren't many other choices.

We had a standard site which meant it had full hookups including cable (which was not very good - the antenna worked better). The site was in an open field and we were fortunate enough to have shade from the trees. The power pedestal did not have a shutoff switch so we had to connect directly to power with no protection when plugging in. The restrooms were very nice but, during the four nights we were there, the trash was never emptied. My husband commented that the commodes in the mens' room needed some maintenance. Showers were separate from the restrooms and were individual. There were vents but no air conditioning. Temperatures during our stay were in the 90s. The deluxe and patio sites were somewhat an improvement over standard sites but, other than concrete pads, had little to offer. It's not a bad campground but could use some TLC to entice more campers. We did not use the pool but it was beautiful and had a splash pad for the little visitors. I got the feeling it was more for the folks who were in the seasonal and annual sites that comprised the greater portion of the campground than for the short term visitors. There was a pavilion, a Fun Zone for kids and an amphitheater that were not open during our stay. There is a restaurant on site that is open limited hours and offers takeout. We would return if in the area only because it has more affordable rates than other campgrounds nearer the Williamsburg area.

This is a beautiful park. All current sites have a view of water - even if it is only a small view. It has the look of a new park so we were surprised to find that it's an older park undergoing renovation. The entrance has a coded security gate. New features are being added including some more new sites. All the sites added this year are pull thrus. The restrooms and laundry are immaculate. The restrooms are individual with shower, sink, and commode and have the feeling of luxury. All sites are paved but can be somewhat inaccessible based on angle of entry. The new central pull thru sites have multiple utility so they can be entered from either direction. Unfortunately, our site (a new site) did not have a sewer hookup that we could access and was far from level front to rear. Managers are full-time and onsite and very helpful. For non-campers, there are cabins for rent. The resort is only a few miles from historic Defuniak Springs as well as a large RV dealership. We would return.

An older park undergoing renovation by new owners. Several long term residents including some left over from previous owner. The majority of sites are full hookup but ours was water and electric only. There is no dump station. The owners are very helpful - even walking with us to our site after a heavy rainstorm that caused erosion in front of our site that would have made it impossible to pull out of our site. As promised, the next day brought gravel fill in front of our site and allowed us to leave without problems. The owners spend most of their days cleaning up the park and working on flower beds. The previous owner left numerous concrete statues throughout the park that add a bit of an eclectic appearance. It isn't much to look at from the road and there are some interior roads that have washed out but the owners are working on road repairs. Near the new sites is a , separate laundry/restroom that is clean and neat. The city of Prattville is historic and offers shopping, restaurants, and a little museum near the old factory that gives the city its name. We would definitely return.

We were quickly checked in and given our site assignment - a pull-thru near the front of the park. Due to the difficulty of getting to the site (need to back up and make a sharp into the row and another sharp turn to the left) we requested a different site which was assigned. We plugged in our surge protector and it read 'Open ground' so we refused that site as well (stating our reason)and were given the adjoining site. The campground seems to be the home for many long term residents as well as short terms. The restrooms were adequate but needed a thorough cleaning. During our 3 night stay, the trash was emptied once, restocking of supplies was apparently done once, and it did not appear to be cleaned during that time. The roads are marked with direction arrows that few campers seem to follow. They are paved and in fair condition. There was not much noise from the interstate despite its proximity. The campground is apparently under relatively new ownership. This camper does not feel the campground is currently deserving of its Good Sam rating. Suggestion: in traveling around the area, do not rely on your GPS. It tries to take you onto streets that were closed or non-existent. We would not stay again.

I agree with the previous reviewers. There are large number of long term campers and several apparently abandoned trailers all over the campground. that being said, the campground is apparently under new ownership or new management and there appears to be an attempt to correct many of the deficiencies. In this writer's opinion, the campground does NOT deserve the ratings it has been given.by Good Sam. The interior roads are in poor condition with potholes and ruts. There seems to have been some recent work on some of the roads. The restrooms are clean but need significant updating. After traveling several miles off the interstate to reach the campground, we nearly missed it as signage is not adequate. Would visit again only if there were no other campgrounds available

This campground lives up to its reputation as the Gulf Coast's Best Kept Secret. The sites are huge and can accommodate any size rig. Some sites have picnic tables and concrete pads, but not all. The restrooms are clean and modern (the campground is only about 8 yrs. old). All sites are full hookup but my husband says the one urinal and 1 commode in the men's room is not adequate as a line forms every morning. The laundry is clean with industrial grade washers and dryers. There is minimal shade but here are trees planted that will eventually correct that problem. It is only about 25 miles to the Gulf Shore with all the restaurants and shopping and even closer to the Causeway over Mobile Bay with restaurants and shopping in Spanish Fort, Fairhope and Foley (including a Tanger Outlet. There are many seasonal campers so reserve early if you plan an extended stay. One can usually get short term accommodations if they call ahead. It is owner-managed and is being constantly improved and is very attractive with flower beds, seasonal shrubbery (mainly azaleas and roses), and the like. And, there is a pizza maker who will deliver to the campground several evenings a week. The owner organizes monthly get-togethers (ice cream socials and pancake breakfasts for example).

Beautiful little park. Owner/managers very helpful and obviously proud of their park. We were in Avalon West backed up to the little lagoon. restrooms were spotless, laundry also spotless. Both are handicapped accessible). There were two individual shower/commode units that shared the laundry building. We were led to our site and guided into the site (it was a back-in and we were very close to the water). A great place for waterfowl viewing and fishing off the bridge that connects the east and west sides of the park. No traffic noise despite the park's proximity to I10. Shopping, restaurants and attractions within a few miles (Naval Air Museum at Pensacola and Blackwater River State Park, for example). We were given area maps and directions to attractions, restaurants, and shopping at check-in. Plenty of room for walking around and enjoying the area. We would definitely return.

Our second stay. Older campground. Owners are apparently trying to improve as evidenced by a new rail fence being installed. Other than that, no visible change in two years. Called for reservations one day in advance and when we arrived they has marked us as no-show for night before our scheduled arrival. No record of our previous stay but, when name was entered into their system, our credit card information was there! A bit disconcerting, to say the least. No explanation as we "apparently had not been there before". Several long term guests. Sites narrow with barely sufficient room for slides. Unable to put out awning. Sites are wooded. Restrooms are clean. Did not use laundry. Be sure to use directions in listing as your GPS will bring you through the town. We had a pull-thru site .

An older park with mainly long term and permanent residents. In need of some upgrading in all areas. The restrooms (one male, 1 female) contain 3 showers and one commode and, while not dirty, are not cleaned thoroughly every day. They need updating. The laundry is very affordable at $1.50 per machine. Most short-term sites are pull-through with barely room for slides, minimal space for tow vehicles and picnic tables that are falling apart. There is a community area and residents have regular activities that are attended by many of the residents. The park is in an older area of the town with questionable security. We would not return.

An older campground with several long-term residents and a few stored units. Friendly staff is very willing to assist campers. We had an escort to our site. We understand that the campground is under new ownership and is in a state of transition. The grounds are well-maintained and staff members regularly patrol and pick up trash when they see it. There are conveniently-placed trash receptacle throughout the park. Minimal highway noise despite close proximity to the interstate. None of the three (?) cable connections at our site worked. All three restrooms are cleaned regularly and well-stocked. Plenty of room to wander. There's is a 'lake' with an island, 'party room' and ducks. Difficult to find even with a GPS. Entrance very plain and almost unnoticeable. Would stay again.

Our second visit to this park. It's rustic but somewhat nice. Many long-term residents. It is somewhat close to the interstate but minimal highway noise. The sites are close together but there is room for slides. The ladies' room door would not close tight easily, the shower drains are trough-like. Lighting at night is minimal. No cable but if you are a subscriber to their satellite company, you can hook up to it in some sites. All that said, it is a nice park. Staff is friendly and helpful. Reservations are a must as there are only a few sites for overnights. May return.

We stayed at this campground en route to FL as we have done several times in the past. It has changed staff and management since our last visit and it was evident. The sites are not nearly as well-maintained nor are the restrooms (trash in several sites, in several sites, restrooms not as clean as usual - bleach would remove many of the water stains). An employee commented that things aren't as nice as they used to be. Many long-term guests. Cable only available on a few sites. Things may be different during the busy season when people visit to fish and boat. May or may not return.
