RV Checklist for Camp Set-Up


Check shore power and polarity using testers
Chock trailer wheels
Connect to shore power and water (phone, cable TV as required)
Disconnect umbilical cord and other connections between tow vehicle and trailer
Disengage parking brake and carefully pull forward until tow vehicle is clear
Extend rear stabilizing jacks as required
Extend slides
Extend trailer steps
If propane is to be used, turn on gas at both tanks
If trailer has slides, open a vent, door or window
If trailer is a fifth-wheel, lower the truck tailgate
Level front to back using landing gear/front jacks and levels
Level side to side using long 2-by-6 boards or "legos" under trailer wheels
Plug in trailer
Pull or back into site and locate trailer onto site as desired
Put tow vehicle in park and apply parking brake
Raise the trailer to disengage hitch
Remove travel bars from slides
NEVER, EVER BACK TRAILER WITHOUT FIRST POSTING A LOOKOUT WITH RADIO!
