This is our third year staying here and we love it. We camp out front near the road and about 40 feet from the edge of the Gulf of Mexico. There are about 100 sites out here but only one or two of them are rented this time of year. Most people prefer the back where you have sewer hook-ups, but we're only here for two days and use the tanks. There is water and electric. It's very peaceful and we love the view and access to the beach.

Also, the description says that pets are not allowed but they are, with the usual caviot that they not bother anyone and you clean up after them.

We stayed for a 3 night long weekend at Buccaneer State Park and found the facility to great. The park was very clean. The sites in the area that we stayed (Treasure Cove) was very nice with lots of shade trees and the sites were spaced well and gave you a nice secluded feeling. Very quiet and laid back.
The water park was great for the kids even though there was an additional charge for both the water park and pool.
You can't beat the price at $25 per day with up to 8 people per site and 2 vehicles allowed.
You are only minutes away from many Casinos and a stones throw from the beach. Great park.

Our third trip here. It's a great campground. I like the Treasure Cove Loop for the trees, but if you use a satellite dish Jean Lafitte, Batataria Bay, Pirate's Cove or Long John Silver would be better (depending on the site/some big live oaks). The wave pool and camp pool are both nice, but both have a fee (a lower rate available in late afternoon). There are sites right on Beach Blvd, but they cannot be reserved (first come, first served only). These sites have water and electric, but no sewer or tables. If you come DO NOT USE GPS; use directions on the state park website (GPS will route you over a railroad crossing where you might bottom out your RV). The trains pass behind the park several times a day, but they didn't bother me. Staff is always friendly. Park is within a few miles of restaurants, Wal-Mart, shopping and casinos.
