How to Read Good Sam Directory Ratings

The three-number rating that accompanies each campground listing in the directory gives readers an at-a-glance assessment of a campground's amenities, cleanliness and environment.

How to read the Good Sam Rating 10/10 /10.
All three ratings categories are measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.Less than 1 percent of parks or campgrounds receive the coveted 10 / 10 / 10 rating, which indicates superior facilities that are well maintained, clean, well-appointed restrooms and a highly appealing appearance.Campgrounds are inspected annually by dedicated RVers like you.

Completeness of facilities

10 / 10 / 10
The first campground rating evaluates completeness and quality of facilities. In this category we rate interior roads, sites, registration area, hookups, recreation, swimming, security, laundry, store and building maintenance.

Cleanliness and physical characteristics of restrooms and showers

10 / 10 / 10
The second rating category concerns the cleanliness and physical characteristics of toilets, walls, showers, sinks/counters/mirrors and floor. If a park achieves a full point in each of the above, it receives a star (), indicating exceptionally clean restrooms.

Also rated are physical characteristics of restrooms, including interior construction, adequate supplies/odor free, adequate number of facilities, exterior appearance and location in relation to park spaces, and interior appearance.

Visual Appeal and Environmental Quality

10 / 10 / 10

This category addresses the park's setting and site layout, function and identification of signage, overall exterior building maintenance, noise, trash disposal, litter and debris around the grounds and sites, and appearance of grounds, sites and entrance area.

Stayed here twice within 10 days. First visit, I would have recommended to anyone. Second visit, not sure I can recommend to anyone. The second visit was long enough to notice all the issues. WiFi does not work and the staff is fully aware. They tell you that the storm knocked it out. The RV spot seems cheap until you have a 5th person, no matter what age they are. You are charged 50% of a total nights stay/$20 per person, per night for EVERY person over the 4th. That would not be so bad if you got anything for your money. During the slow season, you are still charged, but the restaurant and bar are not open. They shut the kiddie pool down over an hour early and opened it almost two hours late and only after I called and complained. They still would not open the gate to the kiddie area. We specifically parked across from the kiddie pool because we have a 4 year old (who we paid the $20 a person/per day charge for). We were told they were not opening that gate and that we would have to walk down to the opposite end, through the adult area. The putt putt course and playground that is advertised, is locked up and basically non existent. I think there is a bit of false advertising and a bit of overcharging for things that don't exist. The pirate ship in the kiddie pool is a safety hazard and needs repair. There are holes in the floor, which are just the right size for a child's toe to get cut and stuck in. There is a gap between the slide and the pool bottom, that allows a child to get their toe stuck and hurt badly. I know from personal experience with my 4 year old. The cost of this place looks good, until you get there and get overcharged for non existent amenities. Staff was friendly on the first visit, but extremely rude and unhelpful on the second visit. Not sure why this place gets a perfect 10 rating.

I spent 5 nights there even though I paid for six. The pool was filthy, bugs on the top, scum and bottle caps on the bottom. I mentioned this to a camp work and he said he would take care of it. Doubting his word I watched as one person performed a mediocre attempt at skimming the pool.
I asked when the bar and grill would be open and was told tomorrow. The hot tub was not much warmer than the pool. I took the asst manager (obviously a low paid kid with no authority) to the pool and pointed out all the dirt including the green algae growing in the kiddie pool. The only thing he said was that he would let the general manager know. Not much was done.
Friday morning was a beehive of activity as more workers appeared to prepare for the weekend. Friday was also the day that a stream of RV's pulled in.
Friday night the pool was clean, the hot tub hot and the bar and grill open. Sunday and Monday again the pool was dirty and the hot tub cold. It's funny that they charge twice as much for weekdays when few of the amenities are available for use.
What's really ironic are the silly rules. You have to wear a wrist band they told me to use the pool. What they gave me was like a hospital ID band, you can't take it off. And nobody really checks it.
The rules say you must shower before using the pool but there is no access to the showers from the pool.
As I was returning from a shopping trip I stopped in an aisle because there were big families on either side and two little kids in the roadway. I stopped to make sure mothers had their hands and were safely clear before proceeding. While I was waiting a golf cart with the word security charged up along side of me, forcing a mother and child to scurry to the side. He stopped to remind me that the speed limit was 5 miles an hour.
It's obvious that this place lives for the weekends. It fills up quickly and the party begins Friday night. The revelers are drunk, loud and boisterous. Sunday morning the places clears out as fast as it filled.
Despite the fact that I had to carry my laundry through the club house to use the luandry, it was only $1.25 per load. I think that's the best thing I can say about this place.

A "resort" by anyone's definition. Great paved sites, easy access. What a beautiful setting and clearly geared toward kids and swimming. Multiple, large swimming pools. Lots of space around your site. If I had a compliant it would be that they charge extra for their wifi - we didn't pay so I don't know how well it worked - just annoying. But we'll be back.

Party Town. Loud. Congested. WiFi did not work. Overpriced. Cater to families with young children or party folks with golf carts and boom boxes.

Whenever we go down I-10 through Louisiana, we stop at Cajun Palms. We spend at least a week there, visiting friends in the area. This time we noticed that the campground has gone downhill a bit. They seem to have put their money into an XD movie tent, a Prehistoric Park, and children's amusements in one of the two pools instead of keeping the campground up-to-date. I should think that they'd improve what they have instead of adding more stuff. They have no library and only two small laundry rooms that haven't been updated. There are four regular size washers ($1.25) in the small one and two of them are out of service. There's also a large size washer ($3.50). Of the six dryers (also $1.25) one is out of order. The larger laundry is in the clubhouse. It has six washers and eight dryers. All of them were in service, but the dryers do not completely dry the clothes. You have to run them through the dryer twice, so it actually costs $2.50. If you need change, the change machine is in the game room. WiFi costs $5 per day, and if you have a golf cart, they charge a $10 per day parking fee. The tables at each campsite are old and warped. They used to require you to wear a wristband whenever they had something special going on in the campground. Now they require you to wear the wristband the entire length of your stay. The wristband cannot be removed and then put back on. It must be cut off. That means if you want to go out to dinner or to a festival in the area, you have to wear this ridiculous plastic band on your wrist.

We got here just before closing time at 7:50pm on a Wednesday. It took about 20 minutes to register because I had to go through the training of a new employee with the trainer beside her. After having been on the road for 12 hours, it was not appreciated. Then I was told that WiFi was to be provided by an outside provider at a fairly high cost. However, I couldn't connect to their service with my Windows 10 laptop. They seem to only cater to Apple products (my wife was able to subscribe with her iPad) and couldn't help with my laptop, other than say that Apple had a better product.
After registering and paying, for my camp site, I was asked if I needed someone to escort me to my site in the dark. The resort is huge so I said yes. Two young guys, in a unlit golf cart, asked me to follow them at about 20 miles/hour when the speed limit is 5! At one point, they had to come back to get me because I couldn't follow through the turns.
Our first night was a Wednesday in March and the place was empty. On Thursday, it started filling up and Friday night will probably be the start of party time. I doubt any rules will be applied.

Well, as others have stated earlier, this site is Party Central. Extremely Loud Music, Kids on bikes with noise makers attached, unruly kids riding bikes through your site ( was nearly hit by one while grilling on my site). I felt as though we had parked in a State Fair Midway. And watch to golf carts they will run you over!

The sites are nice with all concrete and grass, but a long stretch for a 40 ft 5th wheel for sewer and water. Had a extra long cable for TV so I made it. Wi-Fi is extra charge and expensive if you want to stream anything. Non-streaming option performs adequately, but need to pay extra.

Did not find the usual hospitality and friendliness of other RV'ers either, but cannot fault the park on that. I believe it is the clientele they attract.

Had a difficult time following the guide to my spot due to him moving so fast and I had a tough corner to make with all the stupid golf carts in the way.

Water slides, bars in the pool, movie tents, this is more of a Amusement park than an RV park. And the nightly cost reflects it

Very disappointed.

The facility was very nice. There were a lot of rules providing for the safety and comfort of the campers. It was said that the rules would be strictly enforced. However, there were people not following the rules, and nothing was done about it. There were adults driving all over the facility in golf carts, with very loud music playing. It was loud enough to hear from far off, and sometimes the music being played was not appropriate. This was especially annoying at 9:00 and even after 10:00 at night when people are trying to get to sleep. It was not a quiet, peaceful place to stay. We will not be back.

Stayed in a 45ft motorhome. Sites are concrete and level. Decent space between sites. Busy on weekends but otherwise quiet. Bathhouses are acceptable but nothing special. Wifi is NOT free. Sewage connection is placed too far forward and requires an extension if your RV is long. Walmart is 6 miles away.

This is a nice park. We stayed during the week and didn’t have any issues with people being loud or driving recklessly in golf carts as some have mentioned.
That said, I grew up in Louisiana and I know how we like to party so I have no doubt it gets crazy on the weekends, but I’d probably just go with the flow and join right in.

Electric, sewer, water all worked as expected.
We didn’t get on wifi much so I really can’t comment on how well it worked or not. I make my living in IT and in my experience, if the wifi works at all in an RV park then that’s a bonus because it’s a large area with a lot of people taking up bandwidth at once.
I didn’t hook up the cable as we were only there for an overnight on our way to Tennessee.

I have two kids and they enjoyed the pool area. Yes you do have a wear a bracelet around the park but I understand why. There are a lot of amenities and they want to ensure that they aren’t crowded up with non paying guests. It’s really no big deal to wear it.

The store has a decent selection but the restaurant that is right next door also has a market. The restaurant (Crawfish Town I believe it was called) is excellent. All 5 of us agreed that our food was top notch. They even have a shuttle that picks you up at your site and takes you to and from the restaurant. In fact I was tempted to stay here on our way back just to eat at the restaurant again but we made the trip back in two long legs and this RV park didn’t line up with where we wanted to be when we stopped.

Employees I encountered were friendly.

Our site was a pull through with plenty of room to stay connected to our trailer. Our rig is about 46’ (pull vehicle and travel trailer together).
A gentlemen helped us find our site and guided me to make sure I could fit without unhooking. That said, because I had to position it in such a way as not to unhook, I had to use a sewer extension to get connected to the sewer.
There was room for our slide out as well. It extends about 44”.

I would stay here again especially cause I can’t see there being a nicer one in the area as this pretty much has it all.

I didn’t give it 5 stars simply for price.
