How to Read Good Sam Directory Ratings

The three-number rating that accompanies each campground listing in the directory gives readers an at-a-glance assessment of a campground's amenities, cleanliness and environment.

How to read the Good Sam Rating 10/10 /10.
All three ratings categories are measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.Less than 1 percent of parks or campgrounds receive the coveted 10 / 10 / 10 rating, which indicates superior facilities that are well maintained, clean, well-appointed restrooms and a highly appealing appearance.Campgrounds are inspected annually by dedicated RVers like you.

Completeness of facilities

10 / 10 / 10
The first campground rating evaluates completeness and quality of facilities. In this category we rate interior roads, sites, registration area, hookups, recreation, swimming, security, laundry, store and building maintenance.

Cleanliness and physical characteristics of restrooms and showers

10 / 10 / 10

This was the tail stop on our 2000 mile trip around the south east area. We had never been to Galveston and wanted to try the beach area. The park was well worth the stay. Even tho it is close to the Road it was quiet and the folks were very friendly and helpful. I was in the first row south end and had no issues, even with the first two days of heavy rain. It filled up by Saturday and still was a quiet stay. The beach access is less than a mile away and an easy bike ride to it. The Galveston beaches are another issue but the park has great pools, hot tub (huge) and other activities. Overall a very nice park and stay for the 4 days we were there. Dates were Sept 10 thru 13

We purchased our first Motorhome Class A , Fleetwood Southwind in the spring of 2014
That fall we decided to try and winter our folks there. First time traveling far from home, freshly downsized from a farm and now living in a apartment close to us. It was a experiment for everyone.
We found Jamaica Beach RV Park online , the price was right as compared to Florida beaches. That fall my wife flew to Galveston with her mom to get a feel for the Park. They were pleasantly surprised. Dad refused to go as he was not ready for such a change.
December arrived and a day after Christmas we left Wisconsin and arrived at Galveston 3 days later.
I setup the MH and ran thru some of the controls. 7 days and Many notes later, I was off, leaving them to fend for themselves.
Their stay was from December of 2014 to April 2015.
I arrived to pick them up in March to be pleasantly surprised at how well they adjusted. The park and park owners were amazing. they treated them like family. The community that winters there has more then enough activities to keep them busy but most importantly , the owners treat every person as a family member. By the time their stay ended, Our folks already reserved for next winter, and , they wanted the same spot.
Back at home now , going thru the summer , dad misses Galveston and the Park. Thats the most amazing thing of all. Don't hesitate , this place is amazing.

This was the first park I've stayed at in Galveston, and it's the only park I will stay at most likely because of my great experience! It's a bit south of the heavy traffic of the sea wall area which means it's quiet even next to the main road. The whole facility is well maintained and has a wide variety of things for anyone in a family to keep busy with. Good food is just a few minute walk down the road, or a quick bike ride. Beach access is just across the main road and again just a few minutes walk or faster on a bike. The main drag of the sea wall area is a few minutes drive north if you want to hit the larger restaurants and attractions there.
If you're staying in the park there are plenty of activities right there as I said. Pool, hot tub, all the standard fare but with a great attitude from the staff and other tenants who are loyal regulars for the most part! They even have a central pool/pond that they project movies over on certain nights for everyone to enjoy! It's really just a great place with plenty to do whatever your mood is, and I promise they'll do everything to make sure it's a great mood always!

I really like this place so far. It's clean, quiet, decent internet (at least from my spot it is). Their prices are very reasonable. This place will always be my go to spot when I'm in Galveston.

This park is located in the Jamaica Beach area of Galveston Island, about 15 miles from the heart of the town of Galveston. It is across the road from a nice stretch of beach. There are concrete driveways and long pull-thru site pads, picnic tables, full hookups, laundry and cable. The sites are reasonably sized with lovely palm trees throughout the park. The WiFi is a bit unpredictable. It took us a couple of days to figure out which of the wireless networks gave the best results. They have two pools plus an indoor spa, a miniature golf course, fish pond and onsite pizza service. Service is good and they have a large selection of DVDs that they loan out at no cost. We paid $225 for the week.

Lots of elbow room on sites, had pull through, lots of grass, and could hear the ocean at night. This RV park is outside the Galveston activity area, further down the island, great if you are looking for peace and quiet. Great resturante nearby, called Nate's offering fresh local fish. Owners/managers were awesome, very hands on and even guided me to dog sitters so we could travel into Houston and tour NASA space center. We had wind and rain, so did not use the pools or mini-golf offered but did participate in a breakfast that the owners cooked for us, which happens twice a week.. Things are a bit weathered, but definitely friendly and inviting. Would absolutely stay here again.

A very nice, clean and quiet park. The staff was friendly and helpful. They had concrete pull through pads and concrete roads. The seasonal residents and guests were very friendly. The RV park was an easy walk to the beach.

Great: site cleaness, staff is cordial, great pools, nice spa, mini-put, beach
Average: access to beach (you must cross a busy road but it is ok)
One negative: training room smelly (humidity and dirty)

Everything about the park was great, with the exception of the adult pool. It was never cleaned during our entire stay.
