How to Read Good Sam Directory Ratings

The three-number rating that accompanies each campground listing in the directory gives readers an at-a-glance assessment of a campground's amenities, cleanliness and environment.

How to read the Good Sam Rating 10/10 /10.
All three ratings categories are measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.Less than 1 percent of parks or campgrounds receive the coveted 10 / 10 / 10 rating, which indicates superior facilities that are well maintained, clean, well-appointed restrooms and a highly appealing appearance.Campgrounds are inspected annually by dedicated RVers like you.

Completeness of facilities

10 / 10 / 10
The first campground rating evaluates completeness and quality of facilities. In this category we rate interior roads, sites, registration area, hookups, recreation, swimming, security, laundry, store and building maintenance.

Cleanliness and physical characteristics of restrooms and showers

10 / 10 / 10
The second rating category concerns the cleanliness and physical characteristics of toilets, walls, showers, sinks/counters/mirrors and floor. If a park achieves a full point in each of the above, it receives a star (), indicating exceptionally clean restrooms.

Also rated are physical characteristics of restrooms, including interior construction, adequate supplies/odor free, adequate number of facilities, exterior appearance and location in relation to park spaces, and interior appearance.

Visual Appeal and Environmental Quality

10 / 10 / 10

This category addresses the park's setting and site layout, function and identification of signage, overall exterior building maintenance, noise, trash disposal, litter and debris around the grounds and sites, and appearance of grounds, sites and entrance area.

We have stayed here each of the past two years for about six weeks each time. This place is outstanding. Wide (40') and long (70'-110') spots. Big rig friendly. Great owners who live on site, RVer's themselves. All roads paved, paved and good gravel spots. Two grass fenced pet areas, and one very large area that can be used for pets. Some of the best restrooms to be had. Each one a separate room with toilet, sink and large shower. Exercise room, kids rec room, large 'community' room, free movies on weekends, pizza and free bingo with prizes, and on and on and on. We will be back again next spring. Really deserves the 10/10*/10 rating from Good Sam.

We have stayed in RV parks all across the country that call themselves "resorts". Columbia Sun actually earns that title. Everything about it, from the layout of the sites to the landscaping and grass that looks more like a golf course than an RV park, is absolutely first class. There is a beautiful pool, a large event room, a nice store, and restroom/shower facilities that are luxurious and spotless. There are three levels of site luxury. Ours is a basic level and it is beautiful and perfectly level! If you are ever in this part of Wasshington, you owe it to yourselves to plan a stop here. You will NOT be disappointed.

This RV park was designed with the comfort and enjoyment of the traveler in mind. The sites are huge and grassy. The landscaping of the park is beautiful with many trees which are small now but will be big and beautiful in a few years. There are 2 large fenced grassy areas for dogs and one huge grassy area for off leash dog activities. The pool, hot tub and rest rooms are immaculate, as are the laundry and exercise room. Everything is accessible to everyone. There are many camp workers who are always busy and very friendly and helpful. We stayed 3 days and used the pool and tried disc golf. Our 2 dogs were very happy. We will definitely return here.

We only stayed for a night but it is clearly a resort deserving of its 10/10*/10 rating. The management and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. If you can, you gotta stay here.

A great place to spend a few days. Very clean and new, great service, nice pull-through sites and well-maintained. It is a bit noisy from the surrounding highways but its a nice place to relax.

Great looking park. The laundry facilities are very clean. There are several family shower/restrooms available. Work out room equipped with some of the latest fitness machines. Very friendly staffing with well maintained grounds. Have been here since middle of September and will be here until first week of November. Will be staying here again when we return to the area.

Friendly Staff and great owners make this place hard to beat. Quick and easy off of and on to the Interstate.Excellent manicured grounds, paved roads excellent for walking on as well as driving, we stayed in a Deluxe pull thru site with a very nice patio and convertible picnic table with a gravel pad.. A very nice gift shop, pool, laundry and the restrooms were excellent, and kept spotless. A large field for Frisbee golf or dog running, 2 fenced dog runs with benches for you to sit on while your dog does his thing. Totally awesome. You are guided to your site by an employee in a golf cart who then guided me in so that our utility hookups on the RV were adjacent to the park hookups. we have stayed in this park a total of 17 days and will definitely stay here again.
Once the trees mature to provide some shade from the unrelenting July sun, this resort will deserve 11's.

Finally! An RV park that is built and maintained by people who CARE. This place is pristine and spacious. I am still amazed. We had to travel to Missoula Mt. and this was almost a half way point for us so we did a single night over and another on the way back. Would love to have had another night. Although I don't think Tri-Cities would be my vacation destination, this park is beyond words. The people are very kind and helpful, the place is absolutely spotless, and the sites are spacious and perfect. It's refreshing to see what can happen when people care about their customers.

Our second time here and its just a good as always - it should be rated 11/11/11 - We haven't seen any other park that comes close. Perfect for relaxing and lots of great things to do in town, our 1 year old loved playing here.

We were passing through the area and found this park along the way. We only spent one night but what a beautiful park it was. We arrived late with no problems finding our space. Large spaces and beautiful landscaping. Nice dog area. Would have liked to spend another night just to check out the rest of the resort. Would definitely stay here again if we pass through.

We stayed 4 nights to visit several nearby NPS sites.

The park is a short drive from I-82 (Exit 109) along secondary streets. While it is close to town, accessing services require a drive.

There are 3 types of sites (Regular, Deluxe & Supreme) which offer different parking options & amenities.

The interior roads are paved. The roads and turns are sufficient to maneuver larger RV’s but the only place to connect toads for back in sites is on the main roads which would interfere with traffic. The sites are a mixture of back-ins and P/T’s. The P/T sites were long enough to say connected to a toad. Sites had sufficient room for opening slides as the landscape vegetation is new.

This park didn’t seem to understand the simple concept of the importance of a flat, level parking pad as part of the park was built on a slope & there was some effort made to level or tier the parking pads but some of the pads require blocking to get level.

They have full hook ups – water, electricity (50/30/20 AMP), & sewer. The utility connections were towards the middle of the sites. The sewer connection fitting was above ground making it difficult to establish a downhill flow depending on the discharge point. Privacy between the sites depended on the type of site. Orientation of some sites allowed RV’s to create shade on passenger side.

The landscape vegetation is new so there is nothing to interfere with satellite reception. The park brochure showed 46 channels but no mention of broadcast channels. Didn’t try to get any OTA channels.

The park provided WiFi was weak & password protected. Only saw 1 transceiver on the main building. Our Verizon WiFi hotspot worked well. Didn’t try the NET10 phone so don’t know about cell reception.

There were 2 designated fenced pet areas with a grass surface located on either side of the park. There were bag dispensers and collection stations for waste in the fenced pet areas & around the park. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park’s roads. Pet fee of $1.50/pet/day came as a surprise at check in.

There were a couple of areas used for “dry” camping but when those spaces were occupied, users access either electricity and/or water from nearby connections.

Saw adults carrying open containers of alcohol with children in tow walking through occupied sites to reach other sites.

The park flew a drone for recording purposes. At least the park sent out an email notification of the drone flight but it didn’t include the time of the flight.

Most of the weekend events charged a minimal fee to attend.

Park warns of high water pressure & recommends pressure regulators.

This park was designed by people who know RVing. The sites are long, wide and very spacious with beautifully maintained landscaping. The park is relatively new, so the trees are still not big enough to offer much shade, but most sites are set up so when you sit outside your rig you have sun in the morning and shade in the afteroon. The roads throughout are paved and wide. The supreme sites are paved and the regular back-in and deluxe pull-thru sites are done in a larger landscaping gravel. The bathrooms/showers are kept very clean. There is a nice pool, game room, workout room, a cute store and several planned social activities. The staff is very professional and friendly. We really enjoyed staying at this park and will definitely stay again when in the area. We stayed here in a 40' fifthwheel.
