How to Read Good Sam Directory Ratings

The three-number rating that accompanies each campground listing in the directory gives readers an at-a-glance assessment of a campground's amenities, cleanliness and environment.

How to read the Good Sam Rating 10/10 /10.
All three ratings categories are measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.Less than 1 percent of parks or campgrounds receive the coveted 10 / 10 / 10 rating, which indicates superior facilities that are well maintained, clean, well-appointed restrooms and a highly appealing appearance.Campgrounds are inspected annually by dedicated RVers like you.

Completeness of facilities

10 / 10 / 10

We chose Taos Valley RV Park because we were interested in visiting Taos, not expecting to spend much time in the park. Everyone in the office is friendly and helpful; also, you can stop by for fresh brewed coffee in the morning. The grounds are neatly kept and pretty quiet. The restroom/shower facility was clean. Our site was gravel and fairly level, but very narrow, so if we wanted to sit outside, we'd need to use their picnic table (a table and grill are provided at each site). Other sites (full hookups) have cement pads and perhaps a bit more space. This is a park within a high-desert town, so no lush trees or shade. There is a little trail through sage brush that is nice for walking your dog; even has baggies and a trashcan for your convenience. This is a fine park for a home-base while you visit Taos and the surrounding areas -- it is not a destination park.

Stayed 3 nites here. The park has very little shade in some sites but the staff is nice. Restrooms and showers are clean and useful. Not too far from the artsy fartsy stuff, but if you're here in the summer, get going early because during the day, the traffic is as bad as any big city and parking is not to be found. Back to the park, would I recommend it---yes, would I stay here again---yes.

An excellent and clean campground only a few mIles from downtown Taos. TV reception is by over-the-air unless you have satellite. We didn’t have TV for our 3-night stay which we really didn't miss; we were able to find a good radio station. I made an error with our online reservation, but the office was able to accommodate us in a different site. Recommend you make your reservation by telephone to avoid the mistake I made. The checkin was easy and friendly with recommendations on where to eat. We would stay here again!
