How to Read Good Sam Directory Ratings

How to read the Good Sam Rating 10/10 /10.
All three ratings categories are measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.Less than 1 percent of parks or campgrounds receive the coveted 10 / 10 / 10 rating, which indicates superior facilities that are well maintained, clean, well-appointed restrooms and a highly appealing appearance.Campgrounds are inspected annually by dedicated RVers like you.

Completeness of facilities

10 / 10 / 10

We have stayed at Wilderness Lakes many times since 2006. Great camp ground. We went on a holiday weekend (for 3 nights) for a shake down of our new Trailer. The Park was packed. No rules appeared to be in play. The trailer behind us was Partying till 2am every night. The Rangers used to drive around. We Didn't see even one this time! The Bathrooms were empty of toilet paper (again a holiday weekend) so that didn't shock us. But You knew your park was full to max. That means more facility checks! The Cooler in store that had the ice cream in it was broken. Yet they were still selling ice cream?! None of it was frozen. All and all I think the main problem was the lack of reinforcing the rules for the partiers. The spot behind us had 6 cars and one trailer, 4 tents, ez-up and we counted 16-18 people. This camp ground Used to have a 8 person max per site. Guess thats gone now as well. Anyway, We did have a good time just the same. Just beware of the party crowd.

This park is a nice campground for families and the younger set that enjoy getting out in their RVs, there just isn't a lot set up for families to do here other than swim. The main clubhouse gathering spot has a weekend cafe open limited hours selling the basic camping type fare, offers a wealth of activities tables (one must provide their own activities unless you are a senior, then there are things on the calendar), and even has a very small kids T.V. room. The game room was never in operation the three different times we have visited this park. (why have video games and a pool table and a foosball table if we can't use any of it?)The family game center, where one can check out movies, has a wealth of family board games to play...at the very small table in the room. Games cannot leave the room. This room needs to move to the main activities room where more than 4 people can sit down and play games together. They want families here, but clearly have no idea how to accommodate them!
Cell service coverage is great, and if you have satellite in your RV you will get great service in most of the park.
Sites are large and not uniform in any way. Some are back in, others are pull through and a select few are 50 amp. Most of the park is 30 amp, and all have FHUs. A few even have nice shade...but most of those are leased out.

Menifee is a park in the Thousand Trails system.
Beware: Snow Birds think they own the park. Far too many of them live here nearly year around (they lease annual sites), and they are very easy to spot: temporary shelters for carports, huge BBQ's, lots of pretty lights outside their doors and Gazebos, storage sheds, permanent steps/decks at their doors, and dogs, always dogs. Nothing about where they park says they are weekend camping.
The Snow Birds will ignore the rules, and complain if others catch them on it.
The best time to be here is in the summer months, when most of the Snow Birds stay away because it is just too hot, and for the few that do hang around they will escape to the "Adult Pool". (which is fine, their activities take over the main pool in winter far too much)
The laundry rooms are o.k. Seems whenever a third party takes over the machines, they are never all working at the same time, and are very expensive here. Common rooms like laundry and restrooms need a facelift, and serious cobweb removal.
Pools are crystal clear and the proper temps (i.e. heated), but the kiddie pool is freezing. Lots of lawn chairs to stow your towels on while you enjoy the pool.
Watch out for the ducks! If you park next to the stream, beware of poop. You have been warned!
Kids play area is pathetically small, but at least it's in the shade!
Park sells propane at the entrance, and extremely limited camp/rv related supplies in the store. In winter the store is only open on the weekends.
As to Adult activities, Snow Birds will love the maze-like clubhouse with pool tables, a piano, a gazillion puzzles, 2 coffee stations, a huge TV room, and lots of places to play poker. This is also where you will find the offices and the park manager. As my coffee pot had died, I would come down here with my coffee and brew a pot for our RV insulated carafe daily. Snow Birds thought that was funny.
WiFi is again Tengo, the pay as you go system that is really too expensive and only good for one device at a time.
