How to Read Good Sam Directory Ratings

The three-number rating that accompanies each campground listing in the directory gives readers an at-a-glance assessment of a campground's amenities, cleanliness and environment.

How to read the Good Sam Rating 10/10 /10.
All three ratings categories are measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.Less than 1 percent of parks or campgrounds receive the coveted 10 / 10 / 10 rating, which indicates superior facilities that are well maintained, clean, well-appointed restrooms and a highly appealing appearance.Campgrounds are inspected annually by dedicated RVers like you.

Completeness of facilities

10 / 10 / 10
The first campground rating evaluates completeness and quality of facilities. In this category we rate interior roads, sites, registration area, hookups, recreation, swimming, security, laundry, store and building maintenance.

Cleanliness and physical characteristics of restrooms and showers

10 / 10 / 10

Also rated are physical characteristics of restrooms, including interior construction, adequate supplies/odor free, adequate number of facilities, exterior appearance and location in relation to park spaces, and interior appearance.

Nice campground with easy access from the Hwy. Sites are wide and easy to pull in and out of. Did not use the restroom facilities in the park. Met a lot of nice campers will walking around the campground. Fuel and food just down the street. Will stay again if I am headed in that direction.

My husband and I are full-time RVers and have actually been staying at this park for a year now as of the date of this review. My review is that the bathroom and laundry facilities are always clean and well-kept with the rec/game room having a pool table, television and an exercise bike of sorts (I think that is what it is called). The grounds are well kept all year long (weather-permitting as this is Oregon, of course). The staff and the owner are friendly and courteous. There are full-timers who are here year-round as fairly permanent residents per say but there are still plenty of spaces that are available when the park is not full with reservations and stuff. As for that, just call the office and they will let you know what is open and available, when it is or will be available, there is a waiting list they can put you on if you wish, and they will call you back to see if you are still interested and things like that. The owner will accept older RVs just as long as they are not all trashed out and still look decent enough. That is usually a pre-approval thing with the owner. Quiet time is from 10 pm to 6 am and check out time is at noon, I believe. The parking lot is a one-way type set up and there are arrows on the road indicating the proper direction and the owner would prefer everyone follow that and the rules. The rules are simple and easy to follow, they are not difficult to abide by them. Common sense and common courtesy. Noise from the Interstate traffic is constant, of course, but barely noticeable at best and can be tuned out. Most times every few vehicles there is a brief pause in noise between them. The train up on the hill across the road, when it does come through, at most its a rumble type noise but is not too loud and annoying except the few rare times (and usually depending on the weather and the track conditions) that you will hear the squealing on the wheels as it goes by. Almost like nails on a chalkboard but those train noises are few and far between and depends on the weather and track conditions. There are amenities nearby with the Pilot Travel Center, local mechanic shops that have their own little coffee stands and mexican food type stands near them. The Motel 6, the Ranch Motel and Restaurant is in the area, along with a laundry facility that is open 24 hours (unfortunately it has no on-site bathroom there), a hair cutting salon next door to it, and there is an Arco AMPM as well. Yoncalla is up and over the bridge and around a few corners so to speak going north from the park that offers its own small town benefits as well. There is on-site propane here at the park, the Wi-Fi is pretty decent here as well, and the cable service is pretty basic with nothing too fancy. They do allow those who need to stop and dump their tanks (the dump station thing) as long as it is done in the proper black tank dumping manner and as long as the fee is paid, which is pretty minimal and I believe is $12 (inquire with the office for more accurate pricing). Pets are allowed. Any restrictions would need to be inquired about with the office. They ask that you pick up the doggy poo when you walk them (common courtesy) and do not really allow long periods of time with the dog tethered outside (like on a runner type of contraption) especially unsupervised. It really is a nice park for the area that it is in. There is even tent camping sites offered as well. There is no swimming pool or a playground for kids like you might see at some parks, but it is still decent even if you have kids with you when you come through. Definitely give the office a call to find out more! For sure give it a chance, and if you come through and have a bad first impression with any of the staff, please just remember that they are human too and try their best to be friendly on a not so friendly day! As with any park or business and as with anything in life things happen, stuff temporarily doesn't work as it should and it is those little monkey wrenches that seem to get thrown in here and there for the extra challenges and usually a staff member's bad attitude or bad mood is not directed towards you. These guys do their best to keep the park up and running like it should and try really hard to keep operations running smoothly to better serve the customers. Just be patient and understanding with them. They want you to have a good stay while you are here! If my husband and I had to travel elsewhere for awhile, we would most definitely return here if we came back in the area! I hope this review helps you in some manner! Have a great day!
