The holidays take on a decidedly country flair in the tiny hamlet of Pigeon Forge. This popular destination in East Tennessee ushers in the holiday season with the Annual Pigeon Forge Winterfest, voted Festival of the Year and Top Event in the U.S. by tourism groups and conveniently located near several RV parks in Tennessee.

More than 5 million lights will greet you at Winterfest, which kicks off in November and runs through February. Events include the Trolley Tour of Lights and the World's Largest Outlet Extravaganza.  Additionally, the Annual Wilderness Wildlife Week will give visitors the opportunity to connect with the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains through a series of workshops, lectures and guided hikes.

The Smoky Mountains Storytelling Festival, another fun-filled event brings together a number of master storytellers for concerts and workshops. The Saddle Up! Celebration celebrates the great American West with a weekend filled with Wild West activities.

Winterfest isn't the only time to visit, as there are always fun-filled events taking place in town and at nearby Dollywood, which also puts on a Smokey Mountain Christmas Festival.
