Oklahoma: Snowbird's Paradise

Oklahoma Snowbird
Green Country
Named after the Kiamichi River this hilly pine woods region of Oklahoma is also known as Little Dixie. Abundant wilderness areas with glorious mountains, cypress-lined bayous, pristine lakes, rivers, and streams connect you to nature. With 12 state parks and close to a million acres of wildlife, the area is a destination for fishing, hunting, and some of the most spectacular fall foliage in the Midwest. Get a good view of the Ouachita National Forest from Poteau, Oklahoma's Cavanal Hill, dubbed "the world's highest hill" and just one foot shy of a designation as a mountain. Climb down and take a drive on the breathtaking Talimena Scenic Drive.
Lake & Trail Country
Visitors to Oklahoma’s Lake & Trail country will find a compelling blend of natural attractions and history. Hit the trail with a singing cowboy at the Gene Autry Oklahoma Museum, and go wild at the G.W. Exotic Animal Park in Wynnewood. Lovers of outdoors attractions will love Lake Murray, Chickasaw National Recreation Area and Price Falls. Chickasaw Culture Center in Sulpher traces the history of a vibrant Native American community.
