Summer Rendezvous at the Good Sam Rally

Good Sam Club Highways
April 2012
What makes Good Sam Rallies the biggest and best RV events of the year?

For starters, Good Sam Rallies, presented by DISH, offer superb professional entertainment each evening. Huge trade shows display all kinds of RV gadgets and every imaginable type of new motorhome and travel trailer. Informative seminars cover all aspects of the RV lifestyle. Optional sightseeing tours give Rally guests a glimpse of the surrounding area. And activities from the annual Dog Show to the Book Exchange, Ladies’ Social and Salute to Veterans encourage everyone to participate in the fun. But most Rally-goers agree that the best part of Good Sam Rallies is the opportunity to meet RVers from all over the continent, make new friends and share the RV experience.

In the span of just a few days, Good Sam Rallies grow into instant RV communities. Thousands of rigs converge at one location and are parked side by side by a volunteer parking crew. In this temporary RV city, Rally-goers may find themselves parked next to a family from the other side of the country or a couple from their hometown. As people begin to level their rigs, open their awnings and set up tables and chairs, they start meeting their neighbors and begin sharing the Rally experience.

At the registration area, the friendly Good Sam team gives a warm welcome and provides all kinds of material, maps and information on the many activities offered throughout the event. Then it’s time to explore. Each Rally
venue is different from the last, with events taking place at fairgrounds, exposition centers and racetracks.

For the first time, Good Sam is offering three Rallies this year. The initial 2012 event had recordbreaking
attendance in March at the Phoenix International Raceway and featured country music star Martina McBride and comedian Bill Cosby. The next Good Sam Rally takes place in Louisville, June 21 through 24, at the magnificent Kentucky Exposition Center. There, all Rally activities take place in air-conditioned rooms, and
as usual the Rally team has some stellar events planned.

In addition to all the seminars, RV exhibits and other activities at the Louisville Rally, optional tours will take Rally-goers on a cruise along the Ohio River and motorcoach excursions to the Kentucky Derby Museum and the Louisville Slugger Museum, the Old State Capitol and the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Bardstown and the Bourbon Heritage Center, Kentucky Horse Park, local wineries and a printing house for the blind as well as a ghost tour through Old Louisville. Combine these destinations with the natural beauty of the Bluegrass State, and Louisville Rally-goers are bound to have a memorable RV experience flavored with Southern history and culture.

The RV Safety and Education Foundation will also be offering their acclaimed RV Safe Driving Course.
Completion of this program may qualify members for a discount on RV insurance premiums. The Kentucky Expo Center’s highly acclaimed Freedom Hall sets the stage for some unforgettable entertainment, headlined by Grammy winner Sheryl Crow. Crow’s biggest hits—“Every Day Is a Winding Road,” “All I Wanna Do,” “Soak Up the Sun” and “The First Cut Is the Deepest”—are just a few examples of her broad musical repertoire that crosses between classic rock and her country roots, broadening her appeal to all generations.

Crow’s latest album, 100 Miles From Memphis, is a statement of purpose, both musical and emotional. “I grew up in a small town 100 miles from Memphis, and that formed not only my musical taste but how I look at life,” explains Crow. “The music that came out of that part of the world is a part of who I am, and it’s the biggest inspiration for what I do and why I do it.”

Sheryl Crow isn’t the only award-winning songwriter to wow the crowds at the Louisville Rally. Each evening, we’ll offer topnotch professional entertainment, including composer and musician Burt Bucharach and country starts Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.
