1. Tucson - Starting Point
With 350 days of sunshine per year, Tucson abounds with activities that please travelers of all kinds and ages. Visit Tucson Studios for a look at the Old West. Visit the Arizona Desert-Sonora Museum to view their botanical garden, natural history museum and art gallery. Tour the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail and be sure to stock up on Mexican-style pastries or mesquite flour at the Santa Cruz River Farmers' Market.

2. Benson - 46 miles, 47 minutes
Visit Benson, which is home of the Kartchner Caverns State Park. Discovered in 1974, the magnificent limestone caves continue to produce calcite formations. Take a guided tour of the caves and visit the discovery center for exhibits and displays.

3. Tombstone - 24 miles, 28 minutes
One of the most famous of all Arizona mining towns, Tombstone is dubbed "The Town Too Tough to Die." Tombstone features the Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Museum, where visitors can view the guns used by those who tamed the territory.

4. Bisbee - 23 miles, 25 minutes
Stroll Bisbee for its art galleries, gourmet restaurants, coffee houses, book stores and specialty shops. Take the Queen Mine Tour, a trip down into the now-inactive copper mine. Bisbee's Queen Mine was once one of the richest copper mines in history when the mine originally opened in 1877 and is a trip back in time. Visitors don hard hats and hold miners' lanterns as they descend on the mine train into the dark.

5. Patagonia - 67 miles, 1 hour, 15 minutes
Situated between Sonoita Creek and the Patagonia Mountains at an elevation of 4,050 feet, Patagonia is a gateway town for the Arizona Trail. Visit the Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve, managed by the Nature Conservancy. Or stroll the main streets and enjoy restaurants, art galleries and shops.
