Old World charm meets frontier ruggedness in the heart of Canada

Known as Bridge City for its many spans across the South Saskatchewan River, Saskatoon has just the right mix of culture, history and recreation.

The shores of the South Saskatchewan River are lined with Bridge City landmarks like the University of Saskatchewan and the historic Bessborough Hotel. In 1882, the founders of Saskatchewan's largest city pitched their tents on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River.

The tree-lined campus of the University of Saskatchewan is the centerpiece surrounded by abundant shopping, galleries, and attractions. Festivals, from jazz to fringe to movies and river races, dot the city's calendar. The Western Development Museum, Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Diefenbaker Canada Centre, Saskatoon Farm Park and Zoo, and Wanuskewin Heritage Park are all must-see attractions. Explore the Meewasin Valley Trail that winds through the heart of the city.

Visitors can savor an espresso in the trendy Broadway shopping district or enjoy authentic local cuisine in one of many fine restaurants. Golfers can play a round on one of many award-winning courses, watch Shakespeare under a tent or explore 6,000 years of First Nations' culture at one of the city’s many festivals.
